A Dogs Purpose!
I was at the cinema recently with my children and we watched “A dogs purpose.”
I have to say, it was the most emotional film I have seen in a while. My rule is to steer clear of sad animal films and films involving people getting sick.
How ever the trailer for this film looked sweet and fun.
This film was about a dogs purpose in life, although it had the children and myself included in tears most of the way through, it had an amazing message to put across.
1/ Be present and live in the now.
Too many of us live in our heads and from past experiences. its easy to let it control our present and future. Also being more present has been proven to be good for your health.
HOW?
Well here goes……
We are able to feel, respond to and experience our lives more fully, and that can have a profound impact on all aspects of our lives.
Our health being one aspect. Being more present when you are eating will change your life.
Being present can impact what you choose to eat, how much of it that you eat and how you cope with your emotions.
When you are mindful and tuned in to your body, you are more likely to make better food choices and less likely to overeat or give in to the emotional eating that consumes all of us at some point in our lives.
Now all I wanted after the film was a coffee! I felt drained as the children were upset and I had been affected too. I had a green Tea instead as I knew my emotions were taking over my choices.
Its not as easy as you think. Listening, I mean really listening to what you need is difficult, it takes time to tell the difference of what you want and what you need.
Back to the film!
So the message at the end was very sweet and very simple. As said the first part was “Be present”
The rest of the message…..
“Have fun, obviously. Whenever possible, find someone to save and save them. Lick the ones you love. Don’t get all sad faced about what happened and scrunchy-faced about what could. Just be here now. Be. Here. Now. That’s a dog’s purpose.”
I like the “Lick the ones you love” the sweetest part of all. You may well get some strange reactions if you lick the ones you love, from a dog though its perfectly acceptable and almost expected.
Have a great Wednesday
